Taiwan Trip 26/7/08 (3rd day)
After a light breakfast in the hotel, we headed to Yong He soya shop, a famous shop for selling soya bean milk, you tiao and lo buo gao. They have salty soya bean milk, but we did not dare to try.
Can you see Taipei 101? We are going towards that direction, but of course BY CAB. hehe... Actually it's so easy to get cab here, there are cabs everywhere!!
Yay........we reached Taipei 101, the tallest building in Taiwan (used to be the tallest in the world). Come, let's go shopping..
It's summer sales now. But i did not get anything, as all the outlets here are the same as KL's shopping malls. I saw good deal for Gucci bag, 50% off and some as cheap as NT14,000. But i don't like Gucci bags, which is a relief to dear dear laaaaaaa....hahaha...
Actually it's a small shopping mall only, but there are altogether 11 buildings linking to each other and this is only the 1st building.
Come, let's go to the next destination, New York New York. This picture is taken at the link bridge.
My lunch at New York New York's Mcdonald's ..Ive never tasted rice burger before. Not so nice, i still prefer the bun type :) but the grill chicken is superb!!
The view in the food court. Everywhere also full of people.
Behind me is the 7-11. There are lots of 7-11 scattered everywhere around Taipei.
My shopping bag 'I LOVE NEW YORK' -> You know what is inside??? It's the limited edition TOUS' Baby perfume which just arrived Taiwan 2 days ago. Dear dear, thank you ohhhhhhhhh.......Muacks!!
The promoter is so nice, she gave me 2 miniatures of TOUS' perfumes and 3 types of samples. I'll show you later.
On the way out of New York New York, we saw this character from Star Wars. Great pose, dear!! But where is your weapon??!! LOL...
Looking at the sky, it's so cloudy. Hopefully, it will not rain coz i heard typhoon is coming to Taipei.
We decided to skip the rest of the buildings as I feel that the shopping malls are similar to KL's.
So we head to our next destination...............................................
............which is Wu Fen Pu Fashion Area. This is the place where you can get clothes/bags/shoes at wholesale price.
At the entrance of Wu Fen Pu, can't wait to shop! YES!!!
After an exhausting shopping marathon, we finally found a cafe! I really need a break coz so hot and thirsty.
My ice blended peach......oooooo.......yummy...
The pudding tart is also tasty. Dear dear tried their hot mocha...Funny la dear....why do u wana try hot stuffz in this weather? Hehe.......
Dear dear...please help me take the picture of some Taiwanese lenglui.. Can you see them?? Hehe..........Dear took this for me.
Around 6pm, we headed back to our hotel to rest and to put our things. See what i bought in New York New York!! The TOUS' baby and the miniatures, and cosmetics from Japan and some unique candies. Do u notice a small tube on the right? It's actually bubble gum and looks like a toothpaste.
All these stuffs cost me almost NT3000!!!
These are stuffs i bought in Wu Fen Pu.. Actually most of the clothes are not of good quality. I bought all these clothes from 1 shop only which has good quality clothes and cheap.
The hooded blue jacked is only NT100! Hip hop look!
The sales girl is sooo friendly, she spent time to show me great pieces in her shop. I also learnt what is the trend now in Taiwan. It's actually towards flowery and striking colour type, which is the trend in Japan now. The hooded white jacket is very nice.. which you can see me wear later.. hehe.. see through piece..
There are also shops selling items imported from Japan and Korea. Those are high quality products and are mostly NT1,000 and above. I did not get any as I do not intend to spend so much in Wu Fen Pu.
Our legs are so tired..In the end, we decided to walk to Living Mall, 10 minutes walk from our hotel.
This is the view from outside Living Mall with escalator to the right. Similar to Pavilion, KL.
Let's grab something to eat! My tummy is making music already..
I heard that lu rou fan is famous here. I just have to try it. Looks ordinary, but hey, the taste is great! The rice here is different, they are cute, round-shaped type. But a bit sticky.
Dear dear trying his luck!! Quick, panda, grab the hook! Come to daddy.........but haizzzzzzzzz.......... no luck..
Dear's friend told him that the sound system in karaoke here is very good! So I must try, even for an hour! Haha, and there's a karaoke called K9 in Living Mall.
Expensive oh, 1 hour is NT400 and with their plus plus total costs is NT770 for an hour of singing..This also includes NT300 worth of snacks/food for both of us.
The picture behind me looks real ya..
Dear dear must find Aska's Yang Chung (onion) ohh.........Haizzzz........Why Taiwan's karaoke also doesnt have his song one?
Finding songs in their karaoke is a bit tough. Have to search in the books.
Quick, only 1 hour to sing oh.
The small screen next to the TV is also for searching for songs. Dear dear sang Ni shi wo de yan. One of our fav songs.
The view at the reception counter. Nice ya, like hotel.
Very sleepy and tomorrow must wake up at 430 am to catch our plane.
Ah Bao ge delivered our pineapple and green bean cookies to our hotel.
They are freshly baked. Very famous here oh.
The green bean cookies.
We called the reception counter to morning call us at 430am. That means only 3hours to sleep oh.
Time to zzzzzzzzzzzz............

Taiwan Trip 25/7/08 (2nd day)
Good morning.......Ah bao ge requested the front desk to morning call us at 730am. Still manage to snap a picture outside our 314 room, hehe before heading to the hall for breakfast.
Ah bao ge reached our hotel at 9am.
Our first stop is Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall. Very hot outside!!!!!!!!!
Ah bao ge is a great tour guide. He did not make us climb up the staircase (quite high, 89 steps) to the hall, instead, we took elevator from another entrance.
Notice the staircase to the middle building? Hmmm under the hot sun, i wouldn't want to climb up the steps!
The other two buildings to the left and to the right are under renovation. These are the concert and theatre halls.
The legendary great man.
The 2 halls under renovation and the grand arch in the middle.
Our next stop is Martyr's Shrine. Taking picture with one of the guards. There are 2 guards on duty. The other guard could not withstand the heat of the sun (his friends were fanning him and holding his hand) but luckily he did not collapse. He still stood there until the end of his shift (1hour). Later i learnt from the people there that it was his first day at work. Poor guy.
Change of guard ceremony which happens every hour.
I managed to record part of the ceremony.
The guards are performing in the background. The afternoon sun was too hot, so i did not follow the crowd to watch the performance.
Time to fill our tummiesssss.. Ah bao ge took us to bbq buffet.
Two men barbequeing. We just have to fill up our bowls with meat (pork, beef, mutton, chicken) and vege, followed by soya sauce, sesame oil, sugar, lemon, wine, ginger and garlic. And queue up to get our food bbq-ed!
Before and after....yummy.......smells nice ooo.........quick quick go back to my table to taste!
Wow, really yummy..... and the only yummy food in this restaurant (sob sob)..
Our next stop is the National Museum. Ah bao ge told us that there are many valuable antiques here and they will change the display every 3months. The famous antiques are the cabbage carved from jade and also a chunk of fatty meat. Look real oh..We can't take pictures in the museum, though.
After our tour, Ah Bao ge sent us to Xi Men Ding. My favourite place, a great hangout for young people. I saw lots of teenagers hanging around. We even passed by a CD shop and noticed a group of people standing outside. Later i found out that there were singers inside signing albums. Sorry, i did not get the name of the singers (a group of 2 girls) and since both of us do not know them, we did not stop to watch. I shop and shop and shop.............and finally found this shop called 3xiong mei selling ice-creams and deserts. The shop has a basement and really CROWDED. Luckily we found a seat. Notice that all the walls are scribbled with writings...............................
Even the chairs!!!
The waitress brought over our pearl milk tea and shaved ice mango. Lots of youngsters enjoying the deserts here.
Look nice & tasty right? Hmmmm but the taste is so-so only. The shaved ice is actually iced milk and tastes different from what we have in KL. I still prefer KTZ's mango loh haha..
Surprisingly, the milk tea is also disappointing. Anyway, we needed the rest to continue exploring XMD!
I found the famous Ah Zong mien sien!! Yay... The people just stand there to enjoy their mien sien. Can't wait to try it.
Look ordinary right? But the taste is AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS!! Too bad, dear dear doesn't like it. I added garlic sauce and WOW!!.. i could have bowls of it if my tummy permits. Haha...The ingredient is only pig's intestines. The weather is hot, and i was sweating by the time i finish it. MMMMMMMMMM....i can conclude that this is the tastiest food in Taipei!
Time for dear dear to fill up his tummy. We found his dream restaurant, TAMAGO YA. All the food here has got eggs. Even the restaurant is painted like eggs' colour.
1 set of curry chicken and omelete. Looks tasty ya? I was filling up the comment form. :)
Anyway the food is so-so only...so dear dear was a bit disappointed... woohooo....
People queueing up to pay at the counter. haha...
So bored of waiting for the long queue. so i asked dear dear to snap a picture of me and Tamago Ya. WOw..shopping bags full of my stuffs hehe..
I really don't feel like leaving XMD, but we must not miss Shihlin Night Market as well. We took a cab there.. So many people as well. And it's soo big..It is divided into 2 sections, i.e. food and clothes/bags. I started with clothes/bags section as we were still very full. i bought a pair of Nike shoes for NT1280 only! So happy..
Finally we reached the food section. My feet cannot carry my own weight anymore. Sooooooooo tired, really need to find a place to sit. I decided to try 'hua zi', and it's actually big squids and bamboo shoots. At first it tastes a bit weird but quite okay after i get used to the taste. Taiwan has got such big squids!
View of the stalls selling all kinds of food.
The famous Hao Da Da fried chicken you must not miss. Long queue oh... a man was distributing paper bags. The chicken is real big!
The big fried chicken. So big, it can cover your whole face oh!
I actually forgot to take a picture of the white bitter gourds. I've never seen a white one in all my life! In this picture, u can actually see it. I tried the honey bitter gourd juice, wow the taste is sooo bitter sweet and a bit salty. Quite nice, but i couldn't finish it.
Time to show off my stuffs. hehe..these are stuffs i bought in XMD. The DVD's are quite cheap and they are original ones oh. i bought 'wang zi bian qing wa' and it only costs NT188.
More stuffs i bought in XMD.
The stuffs i bought in Shihlin. I really love the mini vest.
The Nike shoes i bought in Shihlin. There are so many shops selling Nike shoes. The young people in Taiwan loveeeeeeeeeeee Nike.
Time to watch tv ... They have got 100+ channels oh. Good nite.......
